Spring is in the air

Spring is in the air and wire antennas are launching into the trees. With Spring comes the thoughts of getting outside and doing Hams in the Park and Field Day preparations. Radio tracked balloons are flying around the world again. Our first hybrid club meeting is going to happen at the Heller Nature Center where you have the choice of attending in person or viewing via Zoom. Since this is the first time we have met in person as a club since the pandemic began, this is a big deal!

Moving to Spring

As we March into Spring it’s great to know our membership is continuing to grow and we are attracting new hams via our robust VE testing program at the Northbrook Public Library every month. We even expect to have the long delayed grand opening sometime later this summer of our ham station in the Collaboratory. Look for details coming soon.

Great Start

Excitement Awaits

Happy New Year NS9RC members. We are starting the new year with excitement for the things to come. We hope to expand our Public Service footprint by getting our members involved in all aspects of communications by participating in events such as the Evanston 100 Bike Event, the Trek 100 Event in Wisconsin and the Chicago Marathon. While Covid took its toll last year on our participation in these events, we look forward to strong participation this year.

Growth and Transitions

2021 was a banner year for growth of our club. We reached a new membership high ( 224 active members) and the number of activities reached an all-time high. We were able to expand our Build Club to include introductory and intermediate level kit building that included some of the most basic and advanced kits we have ever built. We had outreach activities that included Hams in the Park, the Evanston 100 Cycle Event and the Chicago Marathon, all of which went very, very well.
