Excitement Awaits

Happy New Year NS9RC members. We are starting the new year with excitement for the things to come.  We hope to expand our Public Service footprint by getting our members involved in all aspects of communications by participating  in events such as the Evanston 100 Bike Event, the Trek 100 Event in Wisconsin and the Chicago Marathon.  While Covid took its toll last year on our participation in these events, we look forward to strong participation this year.

We will be active in Hams in the Park starting this Spring, have an active Build Club program with a variety of kits to select from and build; events such as a summer Fox Hunt, and a QRP event in the Fall at Emily Oaks.  Our club’s repeaters are all in great shape with coverage on UHF/VHF, D-Star, and Fusion. We have R & D projects in the planning stages.  And even more things to come.  And let’s not forget Field Day 2022 relocated to Northfield this year.

Our schedule of monthly meetings will contain informative and interesting presentations on a wide variety of topics from Sun Cycle 25 to modern miniature (and inexpensive) test equipment.  We hope to have a wide variety of speakers.  And we are looking at instituting hybrid meetings ( a combination of in-person and virtual meetings), as Covid wains, we hope to return to Max’s Deli for Saturday morning breakfast.  In addition, we will maintain a virtual Saturday morning breakfast meeting until we can meet in person. We also will continue broadcasting our Thursday Night net programs and look for increased membership participation. And we hope to have a grand opening of our Ham station at the Northbrook Public Library along with monthly VE testing (now electronic with one day turn-around in license assignment). And we will institute more sales of our donated equipment so that we can support our many, many activities.

Most importantly, we need your support and active participation to make each of these events successful. While we are a diverse group of Hams, we unite around our common interest in our hobby. Looking forward to a great 2022 for all of our club members.
