Our Club Auction is coming up in October But our Online auction is already in full swing
This is our one and only fund raiser which adds funds to support our repeaters, events and other activities. If you have any ham related gear you want to donate please bring it to our Saturday morning breakfast or contact our vice president Elliot (K9EHG) for arrangements.
Please contact us first before bringing any donations on the auction day. We need to assign you a lot number and need to know what it is and in what condition. Contact auction@ns9rc.org.
The online auction for lower value items like cables, connectors and radio accessories is now live. Each item will be running for a week and then the highest bidder will get it. Check our auction page for daily updates and details here ->

Join the Ham Radio Team working the Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Time to begin organizing our roster for the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, October 12, 2025. This will be our 17th year supporting the Marathon and we are proud to be part of this world-class running event. The organizers are expecting 55,000 runners, which begins to put a strain on all aspects of the event. We are hoping to recruit 160 hams (and non-hams). Great Turnout FoR QRP Night
We had a great turnout of approximately 20 club members for our this year’s QRP night. If I counted correctly, we had 3 stations on the air. We also had some visitors which found us on the internet and hopefully we can welcome them again in future events. A big thank you to Howard, N9RUI for organizing it.
VE Test Session August 17th
Our VE Test Session on August 17th resulted in 3 new licenses, 1 Technicians and 2 Extra. We also had one upgrade from General to Extra. The next VE test session is on September 21st. Read all about our VE program here ->

Help Wanted
The North Shore Radio Club has a lot to offer to its members. There are a lot of activities throughout the year to engage and participate. However, these things don’t just happen. These activities require volunteers to take ownership or just to help. As more volunteers we have the workload for everyone will be less.
If you read this, you should give it a serious thought if you could spare a couple of hours during the year to help your club to stay active.
There are roles for everyone regardless of your skills or if you think “I am not good for that” or “I don’t like to deal with people”. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new.
