Unexpected

This month has been filled with the unexpected.  Our club storage locker was located in the basement of an iStorage facility in Glenview and suffered flood damage due to a failed sump pump.  This necessitated that we vacate the facilities with no more than three-day’s notice or our contents would be tossed.  Rising to the occasion, several of our club members stepped up to recue our contents.  Many thanks to Evan, Rob, Denice, Mark, Art, and Elliot (forgive me if I left out anyone) for dropping everything to come to our rescue.  All is well, no reported damage to our stuff and the contents are now secure in a locker located in Deerfield.

With half of the year gone already, we are starting to formulate a strategy for filling a number of Board vacancies for next year.  I will be stepping down as President since I think three years is a good time to change leadership.  Along with the president position we are in need of filling the club secretary, and public service positions.  Many thanks to Jeff Kraft and Rob Orr for their dedication to these roles.  So, now is the time for other members in our club to step up and take leadership roles in our club.  If not for these positions, for additional board positions as they become vacant.  I know what you are thinking.  I don’t have the time to do this.  Well, it really doesn’t take that much time and being able to see the internal operations of this club and provide stewardship is personally very rewarding.  Please give these roles serious consideration.

I want to personally thank all of you for your great support during my tenure and hope that I will leave the club in capable hands with new board members taking the helm.  I will still be present to support the club when I can as I cannot think of a better group of individuals to work beside.
