Welcome to Fall

Welcome to Fall.  We are still trying to emerge from the shadows of Covid and while we have signed a contract to use the Heller Nature Center for the Fall, the dreaded variants have stymied our best attempts to open our in-person meetings until we can get their OK.  So, for now, virtual meetings continue for the time being.

Lots of Kudos to our volunteers!

QRP night went off without a hitch and many thanks to Howard, N9RUI for hosting the event at the Emily Oaks Nature Center on September 14th.

Rob, K9RST coordinated our ham radio contingent for the Evanston 100 Cycle Event and it likewise was a great success.  Thanks to all of our members who participated. He is looking forward for a great turnout at the Bank of America Marathon this month.  Thanks Rob, for demonstrating what public service in ham radio means.

Art, N9AEP conducted our annual sale (in lieu of our annual December Auction) and did a spectacular job of organizing and delivering the sold items.  The items that did not sell will be offered on QRZ and other forums to gain additional revenues to support our club’s activities.  Look forward for a Spring sale this coming year since we still are receiving donations on a regular basis.

October begins our new membership drive.  Thanks to all of you for making this our most successful year for membership, ever in the history of our club! Please submit your renewal dues so we can have even a larger enrollment going into next year.

With an active build club, some of our junior members looking to form their own organization at Central School in Glencoe, and other initiatives being offered by some of our club members, it looks to be an exciting new year, with lots of activities to share.  BTW, some of our junior members are looking to find mentors and instructors to expand their knowledge of ham radio.

Please remember that this is your club.  If you have ideas for club presentations, field trips, new projects, etc. just let me know.  We are a very active club and have lots of expertise in many technical areas. Please feel free to contact me with your suggestions and ideas for presentations.

 73,
