Don't be an April Fool

Our club never ceases to amaze me. I attended our Saturday morning “Brunch Bunch” and was pleasantly surprised by the growing attendance there at Max’s Deli at 8 am in the morning. Well over 15 hams showed up, eager to share their weekly experiences and trade ideas for improving their skills. I’m not sure whether it is the great grub or the stimulating conversation, but it is great fun to attend every week. So, don’t be a fool and miss some of the significant benefits of club membership such as this weekly gathering.

Our club has so much to offer. Whether it is planning our annual trek to Hamvention in Dayton (Xenia) or getting ready for FD, 2023, thinking about Hams in the Park, or the Build club; practicing CW on Wednesdays or tuning in to our regular Thursday evening nets, there is always something to do.

Do you have ideas or questions you need answers to about ham radio? Again, don’t be a fool because we have the expertise to raise your skill level or solve a vexing problem about your antenna or shack. Having trouble how to mount or install a mobile radio in your car? How do you get the power to the radio if the battery is under the hood, but your radio needs to be under your seat? These are all the challenges that make being an active member fun because we have the resources to help or at least, to point you in the right direction.

With the weather finally taking a turn for the warmer and with the idea that you no longer have to be shack bound, come out to our meetings, join us at the Northbrook Library on a Saturday morning at our radio station there, or just come out to meet your fellow hams. That is what membership is all about. We are a community of hams ready to help one another increase our enjoyment of the hobby. I hope to see you all at Heller once again for our April Meeting.
